Italian law stems ultimately from Roman law but has been strongly influenced by the Napoleonic Code. It’s a civil system and contract law is largely dictated by the Italian Civil Code (1942).
The Civil Code governs general principles and also provides for specific contracts including sales contracts, agency contracts, insurance agreements, loan agreements and lease contracts. Standard terms facilitate drafting and performance. But, there is flexibility to allow parties to control their own economic relationship.

Valeria is an Italian mother tongue, professional freelance interpreter and translator for English, Italian, Spanish and French. She provides translation, interpreting, proofreading/editing and localisation services. Valeria is a MCIL (IoL – http://www.iol.org.uk), an associate member of ITI (www.iti.org.uk) and full member of ASETRAD (www.asetrad.org). She is also a DPSI (English Law) holder for English and Italian, which allows her to work in court and police environments. She obtained a BA in Translation Studies and MA in Conference Interpreting at the famous SSLMIT in Forlì, Italy.
